Onion cells in 0.2M sucrose would be expected to be plasmolysed.True or false?
Plasmolysis occurs in single onion cells in sucrose concentration 0.2 M. This is hypoosmotic concentration for most onion cells. Osmotic pressure varies in onion tissue cells. Therefore, some onion cells happens plasmolysis even in hypoosmotic solutions. However, true plasmolysis is considered when 50% of the cells of the analyzed tissue undergo plasmolysis in a given concentration of sucrose.
