Answer to Question #251843 in Biochemistry for Rue

Question #251843

The Michaelis-Menten equation is a mathematical model that is used to analyze simple kinetic data. The model has certain assumptions, and as long as these assumptions are correct, it will accurately model your experimental data. Using relevant stoichiometric equations, list and discuss all the assumptions from which the Michaelis-Menten equation is derived

The Michaelis-Menten equation is a well-known model used in enzyme kinetics. It is a special arrangement of a

two-parameter rectangular hyperbola. The mathematical model is

𝑉𝑉 = C(Vmax)

C + Km

where V is the dependent variable, C is the independent variable, and Vmax and Km are parameters to be

estimated. In enzyme kinetics, V is the velocity (rate) of an enzyme reaction and C is the substrate concentration.
