Compare the microstructure of bone and cartilage and link differences in structure to differences in function.
Cartilage is a supportive tissue that is strong, flexible, and semi-rigid. It can sustain compression forces while still being able to bend. It aids in the formation of a template for strong bone growth and development.
Bone is a rigid supporting tissue mainly because the extracellular matrix is calcified. It’s necessary for support, blood cell formation and assists in movement.
Cartilage is flexible and this helps in developing templates which are essential in bone development while the rigid bone structure helps in supporting the body.
