Transpiration of plants decreases when humidity increases. This is because at high humidity, the air is saturated with water, so evaporation stops. Plant transpiration increases when light intensity increases. This is because more stomata open in strong light to maximize the rate of photosynthesis. Plant transpiration also increases when temperature increases because water molecules evaporate faster creating negative pressure at the stomata. Another reason for increase of plant transpiration as wind speed increases because air movement carries water vapor away from stomata creating negative pressure at the stomata.
In different natural conditions when there is a need for more or less intensive transpiration, plants either reduce or enlarge the area of their leaves.
