Adaptive traits are characteristics that organisms develop that benefit their reproduction and survival. The fins of a whale and turtle, which aid in swimming, are the adaptive attribute that will be studied more in this assignment. Because the environmental conditions in which these two animals reside are comparable, the characteristic becomes adaptive.

Kangaroo rats have evolved to be able to thrive in the desert without ever drinking water. Instead, they obtain all of their moisture from the seeds they consume. They also have exceptional hearing and can jump up to nine feet, which helps them evade predators.

Kangaroo rats have a remarkable ability to extract water from their pee before passing it on. They've evolved specialized kidneys with additional tiny tubules for extracting water from urine to accomplish this feat.
