Resilience is the ability of the body to recover quickly from difficulty or toughness. Physical resilience is cultivated through endurance, exercise, flexibility, balance and resistance training. Study suggests that regular exercises make the body resistant to pain.
Tolerance to pain results from many factors like genetic composition of an individual, age as the young are more resistant than the aged, sex as males are able to endure more physical pain than females. On the other hand, females are good at enduring emotional pain compared to men. Chronic, and mental illnesses, stress, social isolation and past experiences are among other factors.
Health eating is a key factor in enduring pain and promotes resilience.
Physiological changes taking place in the body after a pain stimulus are concerned with transmission of pain and include; transduction, transmission, perception and modulation. These factors are key in pain endurance and resilience. Sympathetic nerve system and Neuro endocrine system are essential in helping the body withstand physical forces of pain.
