1. A faecal (stool) exam (ova and parasite test (O&P)- this test is meant for checking for parasites in stool samples. These are parasites that cause abdominal illnesses. This methods looks for parasitise or eggs (ova) by using special stains in the lab.
2. Colonoscopy (Endoscopy) - it involves inserting a tube into the patient’s mouth or rectum for intestinal examination.
3. Serology –it is used to look for parasite antigen or antibodies generated by the body when it gets infected by a parasite and its immune mechanism is trying to fight it. Blood samples are taken and send to the laboratory for examination.
