Describe the role of photosynthetic pigments in oxygenic and anoxygenic
photosynthetic bacteria
Oxygenic and Anoxygenic Photosynthesis. For photosynthesis to continue, the electron lost from the reaction center pigment must be replaced. Eukaryotes and cyanobacteria carry out oxygenic photosynthesis, producing oxygen, whereas other bacteria carry out anoxygenic photosynthesis, which does not produce oxygen.
