Chickenpox
A highly infectious disease that is caused by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV) causing an itchy, blister-like rash on the skin.
Mode of transmission
By airborne respiratory droplets
By saliva
By skin-to-skin contact
By touching a contaminated surface
By mother to baby by pregnancy, labor, or nursing.
Prevention and Control
The best way to prevent chickenpox is to get the chickenpox vaccine. Everyone should get two doses of chickenpox vaccine if they have never had chickenpox or were never vaccinated.
