There are three major enzymes involved in replication cycle of HIV-1. First is the reverse transcriptase (RT). RT converts the single-stranded genomic RNA into double-stranded proviral DNA. Second is the integrase (IN) that inserts the proviral DNA into the host cell genome. Third is the viral protease (PR) which is crucial for the final stage of replication. PR converts the immature virion into a mature virus through the cleavage of precursor polypeptides
