Conventional PCR reaction is used for amplification of the target DNA fragment only, while sequence PCR is used for identification of sequence of nucleotides in the DNA strand. They are similar processes, but the application is different. In case of conventional PCR, the objective is to obtain multiple copies of the target region and thus, the process is not monitored. In case of sequencing, the addition of each next nucleotide is monitored with the help of different methods.
