5. How does the cell provide energy and where does it use it?
Metabolic processes occurring in the cell provide the oxidation of molecules for the production of ATP in mitochondria. It can be assumed that the energy is conserved in ATP. This molecule and energy are used in multiple cellular processes: transport of molecules and ions through the cell membranes, protein synthesis, synthesis of lipids, nucleic acids and other molecules, replication, movements, growth, etc
