1. Dolphins and whales are mammals. Like all mammals, they breath air, are warm blooded, give birth to live young, lactate and have hair. The ancestors of whales and dolphins lived on land millions of years ago and it is thought they were small dog-like mammals.
2. Locomotion is the ability to move from one place to another and the three types of locomotion which are performed by living organisms include flight locomotion, swimming locomotion and land locomotion.

Order Chiroptera is a unique group of mammals whose members have attained self-powered flight as their main mode of locomotion.

Order Dermoptera has gliding as the main mode of locomotion.
