Short-term memory (or "primary" or "active memory") is the capacity for holding, but not manipulating, a small amount of information in mind in an active, readily available state for a short period of time. When information is first received by means of one of the five senses (sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell), it is retained for a very brief period of time in the sensory registers as sensory memory and then transferred to brain as short term memory. So the animals which have developed sense organs will have more impact n the short term memory like humans who have most developed senses will thus have more influence on their short term memory
