criminology, scientific study of the nonlegal aspects of crime and delinquency, including its causes, correction, and prevention, from the viewpoints of such diverse disciplines as anthropology, biology, psychology and psychiatry, economics, sociology, and statistics.
Characteristics of criminology professionals include an eye for detail when analyzing data and making statistical comparisons. Additionally, a criminologist should be able to think critically and have an analytical mind to make sense of data he studies and create solutions from the problems presented to him.
