Autocratic leadership, also known as authoritarian leadership, is a leadership style characterized by individual control over all decisions and little input from group members. Autocratic leaders typically make choices based on their ideas and judgments and rarely accept advice from followers. Autocratic teaching is a traditional style of teaching. These are teacher-centered or content centred. In this method, the teacher has full control over students and teaching. Here, the teacher is more active and learners are passive listeners.
Democratic leadership, also known as participative leadership or shared leadership, is a leadership style in which members of the group take a participative role in the decision-making process. This type of leadership can apply to any organization, from private businesses to schools to the government. Teachers share their responsibility in decision making, provide equality and student-centred education, create environment for effective communication, give importance to all the students, treat them equally and provide fair chance to all the students to express.
Transformational teaching is based on the idea that an instructor's purpose is greater than delivery of information. Rather than being content-focused, transformational teachers help students become meta-critical participants in the learning process and well-practiced at critical thinking, goal setting and reflection. The teacher is conceptualised as an instructor of the relevant material and also as a change agent who guides students through the transformational process. In his or her role as change agent, the teacher works to decrease students' perceived barriers to success while increasing their self-efficacy for change.
