1.Community engagement pedagogies, often called “service learning,” are ones that combine learning goals and community service in ways that can enhance both student growth and the common good. In the words of the National Service Learning Clearinghouse, it is “a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities.”

2.Be ambitious and outward-looking—use the local environment and community as hands-on learning resources and encourage parents, community organizations and businesses to bring their issues to the school. Take students out into local wild places and community venues, and invite community members into the school. There are many challenges in today's education system. However, one of the biggest challenges is always the outdated education model. The education model is not designed to meet the needs of modern students. The old curriculum that never links with the practical world never let students progress forward.

4.This aspect of storytelling – presenting a different perspective of the world – is important when it comes to connecting with each other. It gives us an opportunity to learn from another person’s experience and it can shape, strengthen or challenge our opinions and values. When a story catches our attention and engages us, we are more likely to absorb the message and meaning within it than if the same message was presented simply in facts and figures.
