Yes, gender, status difference and age affect how one uses the different forms of address, greetings and gestures. In gender for example, one addresses a man as Mr. while a woman as Mrs. or miss depending on if she is married or not. In the status difference, one greets a person according to their title. For example one addresses a lecturer as a professor, a teacher as Mr. or Mrs. and a person who has no job at a first name basis.

Conversational openings are often performed through a verbal greeting. Greetings exist in all cultures and regardless of age, gender, nation or region, most of us exchange greetings with others every day.
