Answer to Question #139855 in Classical Mechanics for Etuk-Tabe Joseph

Question #139855

Solution

According to theory in above question

We can write

"mgh=\\frac{kx^2}{2}"

Where x is compression in spring.

"x=\\sqrt{\\frac{2mgh}{k}}"

Putting the value of m, g, h, k

"x=\\sqrt{\\frac{2\\times50\\times10\\times10}{4\\times10^4}}"

"x=0.5m"

Therefore compression in spring is 0.5m
