an object is placed at 0.6 m from a convex lens of focal length 0.15m . Calculate the position and nature of image.
We know from lens formula "\\frac{1}{f} = \\frac{1}{v} - \\frac{1}{u}" where f - focal length = 0.15m = 15cm,
u = object distance = −0.6m = −60cm and v = image distance
Thus putting the above values in the equation we get,
"\\frac{1}{f} = \\frac{1}{v} - \\frac{1}{u}" = "\\frac{1}{10} - \\frac{1}{6} = \\frac{3 - 5}{30} = \\frac{-2}{30} => v = -15cm"
m = "\\frac{v}{u}" = "\\frac{-15cm}{-60cm} = \\frac{1}{4}"
