How has federalism influenced the United States’s response to COVID-19?
Has federalism been an asset for or an obstacle to effectively responding to the various challenges posed by the pandemic?
Federalism has led to the empowerment of all the arms of government in the fight against COVID-19. The executive, congress, and state governments have enacted laws and executed regulations aimed at reducing the economic and social impact of the pandemic on American society. However, federalism has been an obstacle because of the slow decision-making and response that resulted from the confusion about the virus and the suitable measures to combat it because of misleading sentiments by the federal officials.
