Suppose that you have a computer with a memory unit of 24 bits per word. In this

computer, the assembly program’s instruction set consists of 198 different operations.

All instructions have an operation code part (opcode) and an address part (allowing for

only one address). Each instruction is stored in one word of memory.

a. How many bits are needed for the opcode?

b. How many bits are left for the address part of the instruction?

c. How many additional instructions could be added to this instruction set without

exceeding the assigned number of bits? Discuss and show your calculations.

d. What is the largest unsigned binary number that the address can hold

Consider a scenario where a “Class A” network is divided into 3 subnets of fixed length. Design each subnet and find the IP Range and subnet mask of each subnet. (Choose any Class A address).

List and describe in detail any four power management tools that were developed by at

least two manufacturers to prevent and/or reduce the damage of processors from the

process of overclocking. Your answer must also include the manufacturers name(s).

Q.1.1 Identify a suitable network scenario that can be used to explain and discuss the relationship of concepts in the exhibit. Ensure that you provide details of the following aspects of the scenario:  • Description of the scenario;  • How can the scenario be used to discuss and explore the relationship of the concepts in the exhibit?

Q.1.2 As part of the requirements analysis when designing a network, explain what are functional requirementsperformance requirements and implementation constraints are and then list three functional requirements, performance requirements and implementation constraints as examples for the identified network system scenario in Q.1.1.

Q.1.3 Using Q.1.1 and Q.1.2 above, discuss the relationship between the concepts as presented in the exhibit. In particular, explain the importance of understanding these relationships in network systems design.

1. Do people really need technology in their lives? Is it really a necessity?

2. How do you reconcile the ‘need’ for technology and the dilemma/s it faces?

3. Should there be an ethics of technology?
