If each culture is entitled to its own beliefs and culturally accepted practices, is it ever
acceptable to be intolerant of another person or belief?
Yes; specifically, it is not only acceptable but necessary for a tolerant society to not tolerate the intolerant. This is called the paradox of tolerance, and can be attributed to the philosopher Karl Popper, who stated:-
“In order to maintain a tolerant society, the society must be intolerant of intolerance.”
