Define the fineness modulus of aggregate. What is it used for?
Fineness modulus is an empirical value calculated by adding the cumulative percentages of aggregate samples maintained on each sieve (from 150 microns to 80 mm) and dividing by 100.
The coarser the aggregate, the higher the F.M value.
The fineness modulus is used in the following applications:
