We are running out of resources. What practical ways would you recommend for packaging milk and other canned foods
Packaging refers to the technique that is used for protecting, carrying, identifying, and merchandising any product through the selection of appropriate containers and components. Different materials that are used for packaging the products include paper and paper-based products, plastics, aluminum foil, timber, glss, tinplate, and laminates in the form of bottle, cartons, sachet/pouch, an, barrel, collapsible tube, etc.
In low resource availability conditions, the best options for packaging milk products include flexible PE pouches (economical and durable packing medium), glass bottles, tetrapack, and plastic containers. Among these materials, use of glass is found to be very effective as they can be recycled effectively. In the case of canned products, metal food packaging including, aluminium or steel are recommended, as they are highly recyclable and usually coated with a layer of organic material. This layer prevents the interaction between the food and the metal.
