Phase 1: What is your creative solution for clean, sustainable, and accessible energy?
Describe slip and voltages regulation.
Describe the power flow of a 3 phase induction motor.
Prove that synchronous speed, Ns=120f/p, where f is the line frequency and p is the no of poles.
A particle is moving along a curved path. At a certain instant when the slope of the
path is 0.75, ax = 6 fps2 and ay = 10 fps2
. Compute the values of the total acceleration
(a), tangential acceleration (at) and normal acceleration (an) at this instant.
In this task you must select one of the design proposals that you produced in Assignment 3 which was a roadside warning device and then develop this into a final design solution.
1. Write a list of the most important selection criteria against which your design proposals can be evaluated. You should choose at least 10 criteria.
2. Use these selection criteria to produce an evaluation matrix for your design proposals
3. Use your evaluation matrix to select the optimum design that you will develop further. Explain your choice.
4. Develop your optimum design into a final design solution. Put together a portfolio which must contain the following evidence:
a) 3D drawings (e.g. Oblique, Isometric, exploded diagram, etc.)
b) 2D engineering drawings (e.g. assembly, detail, circuit and schematic diagrams,
presented using relevant conventions and to British Standards)
c) details about the materials and processes involved in manufacturing the design
d) design calculations
Put together a document in which you evaluate your design solution against the requirements of your PDS ( a classroom chair suitable for tall tables). The evaluation must also include suggestions for improving the design so that where there are problems in meeting the requirements of the PDS these are resolved. If the design solution is ‘perfect’ and fully meets the PDS, then improvements could involve adapting the design in order to reduce manufacturing costs.

Additional Information
You should aim to write at least 1000 words to achieve the level of detail required for this task.
Make sure that your PDS has statements in it against which you can make comparisons. For example, do the dimensions of the product conform to the size that has been specified?
A good design evaluation considers positives and negatives as well as making and overall judgment on whether the design is fit for purpose.
A ball is thrown vertically upwards from a platform 8 feet above the ground. After 2 seconds, the
ball is 2 feet below the platform. Find the initial velocity of the ball.

Given the current through a point to be i(t) = 9.16 cos( 1.57 t), in amperes, determine the total amount of charge, in coulombs, flowing through the said point during the time interval 3.01 s < t < 5.19 s.
