Human geography is a branch of Geography that involves the study of human activity and its impact on the society.
Human geography consists of various sub- branches which include:
Transport geography – This involves the study of different ways transportation can be achieved by humans.
Development geography-Under this domain, the geography is given the ability to study the quality of life of a people. The standards of living are also studied.
Cultural geography – this is simply the cultural study of a population. This involves studying the way of life of a people.
Political geography – under this branch, political attributes of a particular region or population are put into perspective. This may involve the study of political processes such as voting.
Population geography- This is majorly concerned with the study of various characteristics of a particular population situated in a certain area of study.
Health geography- This focuses on the access to health care and other health related issues as observed by people of a particular area.
Historical geography- It simply finds the historical facts of a given population such as the origin of a particular population and the relation to other human activity and organization.
Settlement geography – This geographical sphere studies how humans have settled in a particular area and its relation to other human aspects.
Urban geography- It is a modern branch that mainly focuses on the trends involved in building up urban settlement and its relation to other human aspects.
Social geography- As the name suggests, this branch deals with how humans relate with each other in a given population or area.
Economic Geography – this branch concentrates on the economic activities of a population under study.
