Internal earth processes emerge as a result of heat energy "which keeps rocks in the mantle below the earth’s crust in a molten state." This causes volcanic flow during volcanic eruptions. The heat energy also causes destructive processes such as mountain building and earthquakes, steaming grounds, and hot springs, among other processes. Generally, the processes are responsible for sculpturing that occurs at the land surface.
