When a river flows over a shallow riffle due to friction, the flow of the river becomes irregular, and the maximum stream is directed toward one side of the riverbank. This results in erosion and undercutting on one side and deposition occurs on the outside bend of the river. In such a case due to a combination of erosion and deposition, some river landforms are created.
