Like many other slums around the world, Dhaka settles are faced with the same challenges of congestion, lack of accessibility, poor sanitation, low stands of living, and exposure to the elements.
Slums are formed as result of low income community settling in a common area where there can access informal employment in other high income neighborhoods. Overtime, the settlement grows larger and unaccessible. Thus the entire neighborhoods becomes unmanageable, as living conditions deteriorate, ands other challenges such as crime and diseases set in.
