• Colonization involves significant population movement where migrants retain ties with their former countries and acquire major benefits and privileges over the residents of the territory they have inhabited. On the other hand, occupation involves the state, action, or period in which occupies a region but do not interfere with the activities of the people they have found there. The similarity between the two concepts is that in both, the inhabitants are foreigners and they inhabit a region without the consent of the local people.
• The coming of the Americans was an occupation since they did not try to impose their lifestyle, rules, and culture on the people they found, or exploit them by taking their resources.
