The term world religion is problematic?
The classification of 'world religions' is highly problematic because of its arbitrary construction, its exclusion of indigenous religions, and its easy availability for ideological manipulation. In recent religious academia, the imperial edifice of "global religions" has been demolished. Nonetheless, proponents of inclusive citizenship in democratic countries and indigenous empowerment in postcolonial societies have eagerly embraced the concept of "global religions."
