Mary Wolistonecraft argued that providing equal education to girls as was given to boys. Would make women 'exceptional wives' and 'capable workers'. Do you agree with this statement? Support your arguement
I agree that providing equal education to girls as was given to boys would make women 'exceptional wives' and 'capable workers'. This is because Middle class women take the spotlight in Wollstonecraft’s vindication for being idle when being a parent for their children. Even though it may seem that Wollstonecraft is under the influence of being misogynistic herself, we have to remember that she is still quite radical for her time. And if anything, she has shown us the importance for female education as these ‘idle women’ relied heavily on everyone but themselves and cared more for their ‘lap dogs’ than their children as it seems from Wollstonecraft. So an education for them would be helping not only themselves but for their children and society also.
