Paragraph question
Explain the impact of the Enlightenment on European societies and the rest of
the world by outlining the main ideas of Locke, Montesquieu and
Wollstonecraft.
The main ideas of the enlightenment combated the excesses of the church, established science as a source of knowledge, and defended human rights against tyranny. These ideas gave way for the modern Europe bringing about modern schooling, representative democracy, medicine, and republics among others. These ideas were brought by the likes of Locke who spoke of democracy and how to divide the government into three branches, and Montesquieu who were the pioneers of a revolutionary that helped in changing the European society.
