The refusal of many Texas, both Anglo and Mexican, to accept the governmental changes dictated by "Siete Leyes," which placed practically total authority in the hands of the Mexican national government and Santa Anna, was the most direct cause of the Texas Revolution.

The Texas Revolution, also known as the Struggle of Texas Independence, was a war conducted between Mexico and Texas colonists from October 1835 to April 1836 that ended in Texas' independence from Mexico and the establishment of the Republic of Texas (1836–45).
