Ubuntu is a complex word from the Nguni language with several definitions, all of them difficult to translate into English. Ubuntu can best be described as an African philosophy that places emphasis on 'being self through others'. It is a form of humanism which can be expressed in the phrases 'I am because of who we all are' and ubuntu Nguni bantu in Zulu language.
Ubuntu is a philosophy based on the idea that all humanity is connected. The thinking originates in southern Africa but forms part of many African belief systems and serves as a foundation for education.
