Social robots may help to improve children's motivation and to propose enjoyable and tailored activities. Here, we have used the Co-writer scenario in which a child is asked to teach a robot how to write via demonstration on a tablet, combined with a series of games we developed to train specifically pressure, tilt, speed, and letter liaison controls. 

Robots can be helpful in stimulating social skills in autistic children, encouraging imitation, touch, eye gaze, and communication with persons.

ASD includes a broad spectrum of disorders that affects social skills, speech, movement, learning, cognition, mood, and behavior. Rates of autism are increasing dramatically because of increased awareness and screening, better access to healthcare, and broadened diagnostic criteria. Children who have a sister or brother with ASD are at greater risk for having autism. Parents who have a child with ASD are more likely to have another child with the condition. Relatives of a child with autism are also at greater risk for mild problems with communication or social skills.
