What happens if the filament of a single bulb fails (or if the bulb is removed from its socket)? Why?
if bulbs are arranged in series if one bulb fails or removed from the circuit others will not light because removing one bulb breaks the circuit and therefore power is not supplied to the remaining bulbs. if bulbs are arranged in parallel if one bulb fails or removed it does not affect the other bulbs because each bulb has its own circuit therefore they continue to light
