Suggest the following simple experiment.

Take a 600m-long flexible pipe and bend it in a form of a spiral so that you can shout in one end and the other end is near your ear. When you produce noise start the stopwatch. As you hear the sound, stop the stopwatch. Divide the pipe length by the time and obtain the speed of sound.
