Kindly submit a reflection of the war of terror in Afghanistan with the following considerations in mind:
 Students must explore any concurring or opposing views they have and/or how the political issue may affect the Caribbean populace/system. For example, is there any implication of US foreign policy of Caribbean states?
 An analysis of the positions, motivations and/or objectives of the authors/speakers in the articles or newsclip. For example, what are the viewpoints of others? Is the author/speaker unbiased?
 A discussion of how the issues outlined in the article/newsclip affected you as the reader/listener? Did the views impact your political perception of the US foreign policy and political process? Did the author’s/speaker’s view change or reinforce your own political views on issues of globalization?Â
Many Americans believed that the United States had a vested interest in the Caribbean. The United States obtained direct authority of Puerto Rico and indirect control of Cuba following the Spanish-American War. The Panama Canal's construction, as well as the expansion of American corporate interests in the Caribbean, boosted American engagement. Other foreign nations were kept out of the region by American officials because they posed a threat to the US. In the early 1900s, the US government began to become more involved in Latin American affairs. President Theodore Roosevelt proclaimed in 1904 that the United States would serve as a policing force throughout the Western Hemisphere. The Big Stick Policy was the name given to the United States' buildup of dominance in Latin America. It was frequently invoked by the United States to justify the deployment of soldiers to the West Indies and Central America. Like Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic were US protectorates. Many Latin American countries resented the US because of its frequent interventions. The Caribbean displays a politically diverse picture. There are common themes and shared experiences that unite the countries, yet there is much that divides them politically. Some aspects of the situation are explained by history and the impact of polarizing external factors, but they do not give the complete story. Politicians and islands take pride in being unique, and there is a strong sense of place among people who migrate to the United States, Canada, and the European Union, as well as those who remain on their islands and enclaves.
Due to a Supreme Court decision, more than 9,200 candidates will be given a new chance to work as actual preparing educators (PTIs) in Haryana on Sunday. Politicians of all stripes rallied behind the deposed PTIs, conducting khap panchayat meetings in defiance of social distance norms and demanding the passage of legislation to secure their employment. Former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda recently stated that the Congress parliamentary party will introduce a private member's bill to ease the restoration of PTIs during the upcoming assembly session. The selections had only been pushed aside on technical grounds, according to Hooda. Independent MLAs from the BJP's Balraj Kundu and Sombir Sangwan have also supported the cause of the sacked instructors. To respond to the argument that it is not equitable to fire PTIs after they had worked for more than nine years, the supreme court cited a constitution bench judgement. "It is regrettable that these individuals should be uprooted after being appointed, but if equality and equal protection under the law are to have any meaning, and if our public institutions are to inspire the trust that is expected of them, we would be failing in our duty if we did not, even at the expense of considerable inconvenience to the government and the selected candidates do the right thing,’’ the SC said. The apex court quoted the HC's findings on the pattern of marks allotted to some selected and non-selected candidates, saying that it couldn't be a coincidence that 90% of academically qualified candidates performed so poorly in viva-voce that they couldn't get even 10 out of 30 or that brilliance was only found in average candidates with bare eligibility.
Any country's foreign policy is shaped by a variety of internal and external influences. Geographical considerations, culture and history, economic factors, technology, national competency, leadership, political accountability, the press, and bureaucracy are the key internal variables that determine foreign policy. Politics can take place above the state as a result of globalization, through political integration schemes like the European Union and intergovernmental institutions like the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and World Trade Organization. Global movements and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) can help political action cross national borders. Instead of working via their national governments, civil society organizations act globally through creating alliances with organizations in other countries, using global communications channels, and influencing international organizations and other players directly.
