Review uninsured services in Ontario/Canada. Choose one service uninsured and describe it. Do you think this service should be insured by OHIP/public insurance plans?
Uninsured services are those that are delivered to patients but are not considered medically necessary, and hence are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). Sick notes, cosmetic operations, charges for missing appointments, and the filling of documents for childcare, insurance, legal, or employment purposes are all examples of this. Uninsured services are the patient's duty to pay for. Before you are evaluated, please discuss this with your doctor. Most medical treatments are covered by Ontario's Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), although many administrative services and some medical procedures are deemed non-medically required by OHIP and are thus uninsured. These services are billed directly to the patient by MCI, and payment is due upon receipt of the service.
