What operating system should I use for programming?
Laptop or desktop?
An example for a computer that I could do a lot of things on (gaming, video editing, 3d developing, etc).
Max budget: $1500
And I plan on using HTML, PHP, Python, Ruby, Java/JavaScript,
CSS, and all the C's.

Dear visitor, The "gaming" seems to be the most demanding point in your list, so we would recommend you try purchasing the desktop, as the video-card in laptop is harder to upgrade. Here is the list of approximate specs we'd recommend: Intel Core i5-4670K 235 US dollars Processor ASUS P8Z77-V PR 158 US dollars Motherboard G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) 74 US dollars Operative memory Zalman Z11 Black 118 US dollars Case MSI AMD Radeon HD 7970 499 US dollars Video card Cooler Master GX II - 650W 80 US dollars Power supply Western Digital Caviar Black 2 TB 150 US dollars Hard drive Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 120GB 90 US dollars Solid state drive There is no CD drive here because there is no need in one. You can always use flash memory devices or download the information you need via world wide web. Total price on the proposed specs is 1400$ (price is calculated according ti whatever https://www.amazon.com has to offer), but you can lower it by choosing cheaper video card, or less capacitive SSD or HDD, but that is not recommended. If you assemble the PC using the proposed specs, you will forget what is upgrading for about 4-5 years at least. But, of course the decision rests with you. Feel free to contact us if you need any further assistance. Thank you.
