Most of the individuals would refer to democracy as the rule of the people. Moreover, better defined, democracy would refer to the government system in which the various policies, laws, leadership, and some of the nation's significant undertakings are indirectly or directly decided by the citizens. Also, this can be decided by a minority group. The COVID-19 pandemic has had several impacts on the South African democracy. Moreover, through democracy, the Citizens of South Africa are able to elect their leaders through voting. One of the impacts of this pandemic on democracy is that the pandemic has led to the postponing of elections in South Africa. In this case, the local elections have largely been impacted. Moreover, the restrictions placed due to this pandemic have reduced political protests.
