Explain the social forces that systematically cause people to suicides in Zambia
Suicide is when someone dies on purpose. Many people in Zambia die because of overwhelming hopelessness or frustration is devastating to family, friends, and community. However, Durkheim hypothesized that suicide had two important aspects, social integration and moral integration and which have been witnessed in Zambia’s suicidal case. Feeling lonely, experiencing family conflicts and low levels of community integration are social factors revealed by western psychological theorists to be involved in the etiology of suicide.
Another social force that systematically causes people to suicides in Zambia is psychological disorder, especially depression, bipolar disorder, and alcohol and drug use. In fact, about 95% of people who die by suicide have a psychological disorder at the time of death and they have a feeling of distress, irritability, or agitation.
Emotional insults, such as rejection, public humiliation or shame, may be experienced as painful enough by some people to push them towards suicide. Apparent social rejection often leads to social isolation, which also increases suicidality. In addition, a combination of poor coping skills or other suicide vulnerability factors and an emotional insult can be particularly devastating.
Domestic violence is another social force that brings about suicidal cases in Zambia whereby many people in abusive relationships feel desperate and trapped therefore becoming some enough so to attempt or commit suicide. An example is the case for childhood abuse and neglect, domestic violence may result in PTSD, emotional distress, and impaired coping skills.
