The functional sociologist views a formal structure by applying conflict theory. A formal structure like conflict theory involves competition and struggles for limited resources in society. However, in most social and economic institutions people struggle for classes. thus the rolling class struggle to maintain inequality and dominance by putting many obstacles such, as laws, to ensure the lower classes did not get a chance to improve their economic and social status. For example, in the indian caste system, people are classified based on their economic and social status such as Shudras, brahmins, Kshatriyas, and Vaisyas. Accordingly, vital public opportunities are scheduled based on the classes. For instance, in 1950 the Indian government jobs and education were scheduled for the caste system with the lowest status of hierarchy.
