Explain the Role of religion in building social harmony
Social harmony signifies that each race, ethnicity, or religion must be placed in an equal position. The result of the research indicates that communication strategies used by local religious believer groups in establishing social harmony are: educating others, self-censoring, and bargaining. Good religious characteristics help advance social harmony by assimilating and stabilizing cultures and nations. The most significant function of religion is that it encourages moral value since religion is a source of moral values, religion provides social change.
The religious communities help social progress and development by making self-readjustments, obeying secular laws, respecting public customs and contributing to social development by putting into full play their unique advantages. Religion serves several functions for society. These include (a) giving meaning and purpose to life, (b) reinforcing social unity and stability, (c) serving as an agent of social control of behaviour, (d) promoting physical and psychological well-being, and (e) motivating people to work for positive social change.
