Explain how the Malthusian concepts of “preventative checks and “positive” checks are connected to both Environmental Racism and the Flint Water disaster
Malthus proposed two types of "checks" that limit population growth based on food supply at any given time: A preventive check is a conscious decision to delay marriage or abstain from procreation based on a lack of resources.
The positive checks to the population include all the causes, which tend in any way prematurely to shorten the duration of human life; such as unwholesome occupations severe labor and exposure to the seasons bad and insufficient food and clothing arising from poverty bad nursing of children excesses of all kinds great.
The untreated river water, corrosive to the city's older lead pipes, was leaching lead into homes. Free water bottles and filters were provided to residents, but people still struggled to live without full access to one of humanity's most basic needs. Environmental racism refers to the institutional rules, regulations, policies, or government and/or corporate decisions that deliberately target certain communities for locally undesirable land uses and lax enforcement of zoning and environmental laws, resulting in communities being disproportionately exposed to toxicity.
