Lamarck’s theory of evolution was based around how organisms either plants or animals change during their lifetime, and then pass these changes onto their offspring. For instance, Lamarck believed that the giraffe had a long neck because its neck grew longer during its lifetime, as it stretched to reach leaves in high-up tree. This meant that each generation of giraffes would have long necks as seen even today.

Darwin’s theory of natural selection believed that organisms possessed variations which made them have high chances to survive and reproduce than others and are more likely to survive than others.
