Define dimorphism and explain what is responsible for this development.
Give 2 examples of an organism that exhibits dimorphism
Dimorphism is the existence of characteristics that differentiate males and females of a given species, the difference can exist in terms of color, size, and also appearance. Dimorphism is caused by evolution through natural selection whereby the struggles for reproductive survival for both male and females leads to following different evolutionary paths that eventually lead to the difference in development.
Dimorphisms can be exhibited in fungal species
such as Candida albicans and Histoplasma capsulatum.
