6. Explain the auxiliary role of the pancreas in the digestive process.
The pancreas produces enzymes that provide the digestion of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and nucleic acids. In addition, the pancreas secretes the hormones motilin, serotonin, substance P, secretin, and cholecystokinin that control the secretion of digestion enzymes. As a result, the pancreas provides the regulation of the digestion processes in the stomach and duodenum.
